postheadericon Selling In Tough Times

During challenging times, it's more important than ever to dedicate yourself to training, practicing, and improving everything you do.  Being well trained will help you be one of those people who thrives, not just survives and will be prepared when the economy turns around.  Don't just rely on your company to provide sales training, it’s up to you need to turn on your self-motivation and make things happen.

Too many average salespeople try to blame the lack of training or motivation from an external source such as the company, for their challenges.  No one can motivate you, but you. Others can hold you accountable but they can't change your attitude about what you do. They can't inject you with doses of ethics or enthusiasm. In the end, it's all up to you.

If staying the same makes you happy, that's okay. Be happy. However, if you are not happy with where you are right now with your career, get a coach, read a book, take a class, but do something!

Each of us experiences abundance only to the degree we allow ourselves to do so. When you're worth more, you'll earn more. Keep finding ways to neutralize your natural resistance to change. Make yourself uncomfortable where you are and you'll take the steps necessary to get where you want to go. You can change your life by changing your attitude.

Think about the mental picture you have of your life. If you aren't sure what it looks like, look around you. Your environment is a reflection of what you are thinking. If you don't like what you see, start to change by altering your mental picture of yourself, your career, and the life you would be happier living. When you have a clear image of it, all the way to when you fall asleep at night, realize how satisfied you feel.  Soon you'll find yourself providing a level of service to your clients that brings you the life you see in your mental picture.

You must train yourself to succeed:

  • Money is a scoreboard reflection of the amount of service you give.
  • We are constantly selling—ourselves, our ideas, our talents, and our products.
  • We grow in direct proportion to the number of people we meet and serve.
  • We realize the necessity in serving our own needs as well as the needs of others.
